Kat Davenport graduated with a B.A. in Art Practice from U.C. Berkeley in 2022. Aside from their work as an artist, they do nonprofit administrative and development work for various Bay Area choirs and sing in the acapella group Trill Seekers.

Kat Davenport is a visual artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

My work explores the possibilities of sharing corporeal experiences through sculpture, photography, drawing, painting, and mixed media installation. By representing the figure or stand-ins for the figure, I examine the nuances of communicating what it feels like to live in a particular body. Though we all experience things like pain, joy, illness, and disconnect between who we feel we are and who we want to be, articulating these sensations in direct ways is almost impossible—and often are met with skepticism. My art-making process is fuelled by a desire to communicate lived experiences in new ways that bridge lexical shortcomings. More recently that has included sharing the experiences of others, as necessarily mediated by my own perceptions and creative decisions.
